Producer's Corner
Meet the staff who brings the Harvey and Stars stages to life!
First, there’s Jim Fillbrandt, responsible for everything, who works long hours for no pay and sometimes little appreciation.
Bruce Saatoff, CTA rep, who arranges the rights, helps select the season, and directs, while also appearing on stage.
Gene Jamison, "Mr. Nice Guy", who has built the framework for every set put on the Stars stage, and has been with BMT more than 35 years.
Jason McClain, who delights audiences on stage, along with young talented Cory McCall, makes up the tandem, which brings magic to sets with their amazing artistic design skills.
DIRECTORS:
Jon Johannsen whose genius brought you “Barnum” and “Into the Woods”.
Roanne Burr who has more theatrical experience than anyone on staff.
Adam Cline whose day job is heading Kern Glass and his wife, Teri, who also choreographs while serving as a director with the Bakersfield City School District.
Mark and Laurie Price who spend their days at Sneads For Men, and their evenings at the theater both on and off stage.
Shay Burke, Watson Touchstone realtor, who works dance magic on stage.
Cheryl Cleveland, math teacher and the unforgettable “Harper Valley PTA” lady of “Honky Talk Angels”.
Brenda Baldwin, PG&E Account Rep. and on stage “Song Bird”, who thrills audiences with her beautiful voice.
CHOREOGRAPHERS:
Marnie Forzetting, Panama Buena Vista District school teacher, who, like Sara Lee, "nobody doesn't like".
Brent Rochon, BMT's own Fred Astaire and Bakersfield Family Medical Center stalwart, who not only choreographs, but gives us his talent on stage, as well.
PROPS:
Don and Evelyn Daverin and Danetta Bramhall without whom the Harvey stage would be bare and the casts barehanded.
SOUND AND LIGHTS:
For years, Peter Burr has been BMT's lighting Guru, inspire of 2 heart transplants.
Sean Green makes sound and lights come together at Stars.
Jim Chism makes it work at Harvey Auditorium and has done so for more than 20 years.
MUSIC MAKERS: Cindy Hicks, Rusty's Pizza owner, who puts together the orchestras for all performances, as well as plays the drums.
Lastly, but far from the least, retired McFarland school teacher, Char Gaines, accompanist and choral director. Char has been the heart of BMT's music for more that 25 years. She has given more hours to BMT than anyone, "tickling the ivories" at more than 600 productions.
Did you notice? Every one of these important people is from our local community. All have, or are still making a significant contribution to Kern County. Yet, they give countless hours to BMT to make our productions light up the stage. KUDOS TO THEM ALL!!!
